Hampshire’s Pre-Season Calendar Confirmed
Hampshire’s men and women will be going on tour in March with trips to Stellenbosch and Desert Springs, and five warm up matches
Hampshire and England Under 19s pair Brad Taylor and Mason Crane paid a visit to Springhill Primary School in Southampton, as part of their Book Week.
The visit kicked off Hampshire Cricket in the Community’s “Read to Succeed” programme with the school, which is designed to engage children into reading. Pupils from Years 4 & 5 enjoyed a talk from Brad and Mason on the importance of literacy in their life and sporting career.
The project, created and run by the club’s official charity, aims to encourage children to read for a specific amount of time every day for a month long period.
As part of a wide range of exciting activities for Book Week, we were fortunate to have Brad Taylor and Mason Crane visit our school to talk about the importance of reading. The opportunity to meet such prominent sportsmen highlighted the value that is placed on reading in ‘real life’. Brad and Mason inspired the children to aim high and achieve well academically, personally and socially…and to love cricket!

I always enjoyed reading when I was at school and it’s a vital part of your education as you grow up. For schools like Springhill to put on weeks dedicated to reading is really commendable and hopefully it will encourage the children to not only read as much as possible, but to enjoy it too!

Hampshire Cricket in the Community’s Read to Succeed programme is available all-year round. If you’re interested in this programme for your school, please contact Emily Munro via email, [email protected] or by calling 02380 475652.
Now in its third year, Read to Succeed is one of our most popular programmes. The ability to read books is fundamental to children of all ages and its part of our everyday lives. It’s always a pleasure to come to a school like Springhill, who have always engaged with this project and share our enthusiasm for encouraging the importance of literacy for children of all ages.
