Sixteen Southern Vipers Players To Star In The Hundred

A total of 16 Southern Vipers players find themselves with Hundred deals as the Open Market stage of player signing comes to a close

Sixteen Southern Vipers stars will be part of this year’s Hundred competition.

Georgia Adams, Lauren Bell, Maitlan Brown, Maia Bouchier, Freya Kemp, Anya Shrubsole, Rhianna Southby, Mary Taylor, and Danni Wyatt will all remain at The Ageas Bowl playing for Charlotte Edwards’ Southern Brave side.

All-rounder Georgia Elwiss and batters Ella McCaughan and Emily Windsor are heading across the border to Welsh Fire, whilst spinners Charlie Dean and Linsey Smith were retained by London Spirit and Northern Superchargers respectively, with wicket-keeper Chloe Hill and all-rounder Alice Monaghan also being snapped up by the Spirit.

Bell, Bouchier and Kemp were retained by Southern Brave, along with the first-ever pick in the inaugural Women’s Premier League, Smriti Mandhana.

In the first-ever women’s Hundred draft, Danni Wyatt was retained via Southern Brave’s right to match, whilst Anya Shrubsole was also drafted in alongside Chloe Tryon and Maitlan Brown as the team’s overseas players.

Vipers’ captain Georgia Adams and Rhianna Southby were amongst the first names confirmed by The Hundred’s women’s teams, with Mary Taylor being confirmed today.

Elwiss was drafted to Welsh Fire, moving from Birmingham Phoenix, with McCaughan and 2022 winning runs-hitter Windsor signed in the open market stage.

Dean, who captained the Spirit last year, was retained and will be joined by wicket-keeper Chloe Hill and all-rounder Alice Monaghan after they were signed in the open market.
