Hampshire’s Will Smith and Joe Weatherley both hit half-centuries for their respective teams Down Under in the latest round of grade cricket matches in Australia.
Smith’s Sydney First Grade side Gordon secured an impressive win in their 50-over match against St George. The 33-year old Hampshire man contributed with 55 from 59 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six as Gordon reached an imposing 308-3 from their 50 overs.
Opener Cameron Eccles top-scored for Gordon with 135 from 156 balls (7 fours, 5 sixes).
St George could only reach 227 all-out in reply with Smith showing his worth with the ball, finishing with figures of 2-67 from his ten overs.

Promising young Hants batsman Joe Weatherley hit an unbeaten 50 during Woodville’s second innings of their win over Adelaide.
Woodville skipper Carl Tietjens top-scored in Woodville’s first innings, hitting 68 as they reached 299 in the 80th over before Adelaide hit 254 all-out in reply with Matthew Nobes top-scoring with 71.
Half-centuries from openers Conor McInerney (65) and Josh Hoffman (52) gave Woodville a strong start to their second innings before Weatherley struck nine fours during his 63-ball knock of 50 as they reached 220-5 to secure the win.
Elsewhere, Adam Wheater hit 24 and took one catch behind the stumps during Perth’s 50-over defeat to Gosnells.
