The Southern Vipers have announced a playing squad of 15 ahead of the 2017 Kia Super League campaign.
The Kia Super League will again see the world’s best cricketers compete against each other as Charlotte Edwards’ Southern Vipers attempt to defend their title.
The Ageas Bowl based group are comprised of two England players, two ex-England players, three overseas players, six England Women’s Academy and Senior Academy players and two players who have been selected through a county talent identification process.
Dane van Niekerk, who was originally signed as the third overseas set to feature for the Vipers this season, has withdrawn through injury and her replacement will be announced in due course.
After the success of the first Kia Super League last summer, the second season of the competition will see six teams taking part in a round-robin competition over a 17-day period and across 13 different venues from Thursday 10 August to Saturday 26 August. The competition will then climax in a showcase finals day on Friday 1 September at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove.
After the incredible drama and excitement of the ICC Women's World Cup, we're all set for the second year of the Kia Super League to be the next stage of a transformational summer for women’s cricket in this country.
Clare Connor, ECB Director Of England Women's Cricket
Attendances at last year's KSL surpassed our expectations and the standard of cricket was extremely high. I'm sure we'll see even larger crowds and yet more stunning performances when the competition gets underway on 10 August.
The Kia Super League will be broadcast live on television and radio this summer with Sky Sports providing live coverage of six ‘double-headers’ alongside NatWest T20 Blast matches. The Southern Vipers televised home fixture this season will see them take on Western Storm at the The Ageas Bowl on Thursday 10th August, ahead of Hampshire's NatWest T20 Blast fixture against Glamorgan.
