Match Preview: Hampshire Women v Durham, Metro Bank One Day Cup
Hampshire Women look to bounce back against Durham in the next round of fixtures in the Metro Bank One Day Cup
Southern Vipers have announced a 15-strong squad to represent the South Central region in this summer’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
The special edition competition – named in honour of England’s pioneering World Cup-winning captain and created to ensure women’s domestic cricket is played despite the challenges of COVID-19 – will feature the eight teams from the new elite domestic structure playing in two regionalised groups of four.
The Vipers are grouped with the Sunrisers, South East Stars and Western Storm and play six behind-closed-doors group matches – facing each side in their group twice, once home and once away – across August and September, before the two regionalised group winners proceed to a final.
And ahead of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy commencing on August 29, the Vipers have today confirmed a 15-player squad to compete in the one-off 50-over competition.
Southern Vipers Squad:
Georgia Adams, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Ella Chandler, Providence Cowdrill, Charlie Dean, Ariana Dowse, Freya Kemp, Cassidy McCarthy, Ella McCaughan, Alice Monaghan, Tara Norris, Carla Rudd, Paige Scholfield, Emily Windsor.
We’ve selected a strong and versatile 15-player squad to compete in this summer’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. We have players with lots of Kia Super League and county experience, combined with some of the brightest young talent in the country.
Charlotte Edwards, Southern Vipers Head Coach
All the players and staff are thankful to the ECB for making this competition happen and we’re confident we have the squad to make it a successful campaign for the Southern Vipers.
The Vipers – who have been training at both Arundel Castle CC and Middleton Sports Ground - will play their home matches behind-closed-doors at The 1st Central County Ground and The Ageas Bowl.
We are thrilled by the strength and depth we have within the squad and found ourselves omitting some really talented players. We feel we’ve got a good mix of youth and experience and it’s an exciting time for all involved as we work toward the commencement of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy later this month.
