Southern Vipers captain Charlotte Edwards has signed for Women's Big Bash League side Adelaide Strikers, a commitment that will see her feature in the 2016/17 edition of the Australian T20 competition.
The Vipers skipper, who led her side to this year's inaugural Kia Super League title earlier in the summer, will play her winter cricket in South Australia with a period playing 50-over cricket in the Women's National Cricket League before joining the Strikers for the start of the T20 campaign in December.
I’m really excited about this opportunity with the Strikers, especially with the growth of women’s cricket in Australia at an all-time high. The WBBL has gone from strength to strength and to have 10,000 fans watching last New Year’s Eve was incredible.
Charlotte Edwards, Southern Vipers Captain
