Southern Vipers Head Coach Charlotte Edwards Inducted Into ICC Hall Of Fame

Charlotte Edwards represented England from 1996-2016, and scored over 10,000 international runs with 13 centuries, and 67 fifties

Charlotte Edwards, Head Coach of Southern Vipers, has been inducted in to the ICC’s Hall of Fame.

Edwards began her career with East Anglia in 1994, and made her international debut in 1996 in England’s third Test against New Zealand, where she scored 34 and 31 opening the batting.

Her first international century came in 1997, where she scored 102 against South Africa in just her second One Day International.

She recorded her first Test century 1999, where she scored 108 against India at the Denis Compton Oval.

In 2009, Edwards completed a triumphant treble, when she captained her country to success in the 50-over World Cup, before backing it up with a World T20 win on home soil, followed by defending the Ashes in front of a home crowd.

At the time Edwards retired from international cricket in 2016, no one had scored more runs than her in ODI and T20I cricket, and she remains England’s leading run scorer in the respective formats.

Overall, Edwards scored a mammoth 10,273 runs for her country, over half of which came in ODIs where she recorded nine centuries, and a whopping 46 half-centuries.

Since retirement from playing, Edwards has coached Southern Vipers to three trophies in as many years, winning the first two Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophies, before winning her ‘own’ trophy, the Charlotte Edwards Cup, in 2022.

I would like to thank the ICC for this recognition of my career. It’s a massive honour to be included in the ICC Hall of Fame alongside the very illustrious company that has already been inducted. I’d like to thank and share this moment with my family and friends, my teammates, and all of the coaches that have supported me throughout. I loved every minute of my international career and I’m absolutely delighted to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.
