Match Preview: Hampshire Men v Worcestershire, Rothesay County Championship
Hampshire Men return to Utilita Bowl as they face Worcestershire in the second round of County Championship fixtures featuring the Kookaburra ball
Eight Vipers stars have flown out to Australia to take part in the WBBL, State, and Club cricket during the winter months.
The Women’s Big Bash League kicked off with a thriller between Maia Bouchier and Nicole Faltum’s Melbourne Stars against Linsey Smith and Maitlan Brown’s Sydney Sixers, headed up by Charlotte Edwards.
Bouchier scored a quickfire 25 as the Stars posted 165-8, with Linsey Smith and Maitlan Brown picking up a wicket each for the Sixers, before the latter’s 35 almost helped the team in pink over the line, ending just three runs shy of victory as the Stars opened their campaign with a win.
Georgia Adams then made her WBBL debut for Adelaide Strikers as they bowled the Stars out for just 29 to secure a 148-run victory at the Karen Rolton Oval.
However, in the return fixture, Maia Bouchier scored 48 from 38 from six 4s and one 6, although the Strikers kept their cool and chased down 134 with two balls to spare.
Southern Vipers Adams skipper has taken three wickets and scored 15 runs in four matches so far, whilst Bouchier has scored 82 runs, the second most for Melbourne Stars.
It was then Lauren Bell’s turn to grace the WBBL as she picked up 1-28 on debut for Sydney Thunder as they defeated the Sixers by 42 runs.
In Melbourne, Rhianna Southby and Charlotte Taylor have both been signed by Box Hill CC.
Wicket keeper Southby made her debut in a 32-run win (DLS) against Melbourne CC, scoring 14 runs and claiming a stumping.
