Southern Vipers’ Georgia Adams and Rhianna Southby were both in match action in Australia over the weekend, with both players taking to grade cricket in New South Wales and Victoria respectively.
Playing for Manly Warringah at Killara Park in the outskirts of Sydney, Adams made 27 as Manly posted 232-6 in their 50 overs against Gordon CC which featured Thunder’s Fi Morris.
With the ball, Adams added to her wickets tally by picking up 2-29 in 9.2 overs, and taking a catch to remove Morris for three as Gordon CC were skittled for just 113.
The win puts Manly Warringah up to second place in the NSW Women’s First Grade, sitting just five points behind St George-Sutherland CC, who Manly face next Sunday.
Adams however will next be in action for New South Wales Breakers in the Women’s National Cricket League, on Thursday 15th and Saturday 17th February as they take on South Australia in the final round of group fixtures.
New South Wales aren’t in contention for the play-off spots, with four wins from ten matches, but two wins against fifth-placed South Australia would see NSW overtake them.
Over in Melbourne, Rhianna Southby took the field for Box Hill CC as they faced Prahran.
Batting first, Box Hill made 193-9 in 50 overs, with Southby top scoring with 48 from 55 balls.
However, an unbeaten century by Prahran’s Olivia Henry ensured the visitors reached their target with just under 15 overs to spare.
Box Hill slip to fourth in the Victorian Women’s Premier, but are just one point behind Prahran with one round robin fixture to play – against seventh-placed Plenty Valley on Sunday.
Southern Vipers kick off their Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and Charlotte Edwards Cup title defences on 20th April and 18th May respectively.
Utilita Bowl hosts five Vipers matches, including two double headers with Hampshire Hawks on Thursday 30 May and Friday 14 June.
The Vipers also return to three outgrounds in Wormsley, Arundel Castle, and Falkland CC, along with two trips to the 1st Central County Ground in 2024.
