England Women defeated India 2-1 in their three-match IT20 series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Danni Wyatt starred in the series opener, striking 75 from just 47 balls as she closed in on Charlotte Edwards’ record of England Women’s leading IT20 run scorer.
She also became the first England player, male or female, to feature in 150 IT20s.
England posted 197-6 before Freya Kemp struck with her first ball back in an international game to dismiss Jemimah Rodrigues caught behind for four.
The visitors comfortably won by 38 runs.
In the second match, Charlie Dean returned to the side having been sidelined with illness, and she too struck straightaway when she pinned Shafali Verma plumb in front of middle stump with the second ball of the game.
The off spinner then had the wicket of Smriti Mandhana, also lbw, and completed her spell with figures of 2-16.
Lauren Bell then struck in the final over of the powerplay to remove Deepti Sharma, and picked up Titas Sadhu to have India 77-9.
Kemp also picked up a wicket, that of Shreyanka Patil, claiming 1-2 from her solitary over.
Having been set a target of just 80, England chased it down with 8.4 overs to spare.
In the third and final match, Dean was once again on song, taking 1-18 from her four overs, once again picking up the wicket of Rodrigues.
Freya Kemp then doubled her wicket tally for the series, claiming 2-24 as she dismissed Verma with her first ball before removing Deepti Sharma.
However, with only Heather Knight passing 25, England’s 126 wasn’t quite enough to secure a series whitewash, and India completed a consolation victory with an over remaining.
The Test match begins on Thursday 14th December, with Maia Bouchier being added to the original squad.
Not a stranger to doing things their own way, the WPL auction took place on the same day as the second IT20, with last year’s auction taking place on the same day England played Ireland in the Women’s T20 World Cup.
Her scintillating knock in the opening match helped see Danni Wyatt picked up for ₹30 lakh (~£29,000) by UP Warriorz where she will join Lauren Bell under the tutelage of England Women head coach Jon Lewis.
Meanwhile, out in Australia, Georgia Adams made her debut for Manly Warringah in the New South Wales Premier league.
Batting at four, Adams recorded an unbeaten century, ending her innings on 109* from just 97 balls, striking 14 fours along the way having walked out to bat at 39-2.
Manly Warringah posted a formidable 289 from their fifty overs, and Adams wasn’t done just yet.
She claimed 1-19 from six overs with the ball, the wicket being a caught and bowled to remove Northern District’s opener Kate McTaggart for 73.
