Southern Vipers Overseas Roundup: Winning All Over The World

Vipers starred on two continents with two half centuries and three wins

Our Vipers overseas were back in grade cricket action after the conclusion of the Women’s National Cricket League, with Tasmania defeating Queensland in the final at Hobart.

Charli Knott made a blistering 73 from 61 as Queensland posted 248-7 in their 50 overs, but an unbeaten century from Player of the Tournament, Nicola Carey, saw Tasmania chase their target down with 14 balls remaining.

Rhianna Southby starred with the bat in eliminator match in the Victorian Premier League for Box Hill CC.

Home side Prahran CC scored 226-8, with Southby taking a catch to remove opener Mia Perrin for 57, before top scoring with 62, her first half-century for Box Hill.

Unfortunately, the visitors couldn’t get over the line and were bowled out 30 runs shy of victory.

After her stint with New South Wales, Georgia Adams returned to Manly Warringah and helped her side complete a resounding victory of Campbelltown Camden.

The Vipers’ captain conceded just 16 runs from eight overs, four of which were maidens, as Campbelltown Camden were skittled for 125, before Sunrisers’ Saskia Horley and Manly captain Lauren Kua both scored fifties to see the home side over the line with Adams not needing to bat.

The win sees Manly Warringah into the semi final of the NSW Premier League where they take on Sydney on Sunday 3rd March.

Out in the WPL, Charlotte Edwards’ Mumbai Indians started the competition with back-to-back wins, defeating last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals in a final ball thriller before a more comfortable victory against Gujarat Giants, with former Viper Amelia Kerr picking up 4-17 with the ball and 31 runs with the bat.
