Superb Smith And Bell Give England Excellent Start To World Cup Campaign
Hampshire’s Linsey Smith and Lauren Bell have been exemplary as England top the group at the halfway point of their Cricket World Cup campaign
England currently sit top of the table after four matches of the Cricket World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Yesterday’s abandonment with Pakistan means they are well placed to progress through to the semi-finals, although they have three important matches coming up against India, Australia, and New Zealand over the coming week.
Hampshire bowlers Linsey Smith and Lauren Bell have been paramount to England’s success so far.
Left arm spinner Smith has claimed six wickets and took figures of 3-7 in England’s opening game against South Africa.
Lauren Bell meanwhile has picked up two wickets playing as England’s only frontline pace bowler but missed the match against Pakistan due to illness.
England travel to Indore to face hosts India on Sunday 19th October before doing battle with reigning champions Australia on Wednesday 22nd.
Charlotte Edwards’ side will then face the White Ferns in their final group match on Sunday 26th.
The semi-finals will then take place on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th October with the final on Sunday 2nd November.
