Match Preview: Sussex v Hampshire Men, Pre-Season Friendly
Hampshire Men travel to Hove to play Sussex in their final pre-season fixture before the Rothesay County Championship
Although the result didn’t go the way of Hampshire Hawks, the 2021 Vitality Blast Finals Day was the awakening of a special talent.
Hampshire found themselves two wickets down with only eight runs on the board having been put into bat by Somerset, then up stepped Joe Weatherley.
With wickets falling around him, the Winchester native was defiant and determined to push his team to a respectable total at his first Finals Day.
Weatherley battled at first, before unleashing some massive shots over the Edgbaston boundaries, on his way to a career best 71 from 50 balls.

The right hander saved the best for last, hitting Marchant de Lange for consecutive sixes in the last over of the innings.
Weatherley's signature shot, the slog sweep against pace, was out in full force in Birmingham, with four of his five maximums resulting from that shot.
