T20 World Cup Update: England Maintain Perfect Record

The Three Lions move a step closer to Semi-Final qualification

England have made it four wins out of four at the Men’s T20 World Cup after defeating Sri Lanka by 26 runs in Sharjah.

On Monday 1st November, Eoin Morgan’s side faced Sri Lanka, and, batting first, found themselves in trouble at 35-3.

Up stepped Jos Buttler, who blasted a magnificent 101 not out from 67 balls, including six maximums. Together with captain Morgan, the pair shared a 112-run partnership which helped England to 163-4 from their allocated overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka also struggled early on, with Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali taking two wickets apiece to dent Sri Lanka’s hopes.

Southern Brave fast bowler Chris Jordan once again showed his class, contributing two wickets and only conceding 24 runs from his four overs.

Hampshire seamer Brad Wheal has had a positive campaign for a Scottish team which arguably exceeded expectations by making the Super 12 stage of the competition, taking seven wickets in batter friendly conditions.

Elsewhere, Pakistan have secured qualification for the semi-final stage after making it four wins from four, defeating Namibia by 45 runs.

Number one T20 batsman in the world Babar Azam lead the way with a typically fluent 70 runs opening the batting.
