Three Hampshire Men Earn Contracts With The ECB
Hampshire’s Liam Dawson, Sonny Baker, and Eddie Jack have all been awarded contracts with the ECB
Hampshire’s Liam Dawson, Sonny Baker, and Eddie Jack have all been awarded contracts with the ECB (England & Wales Cricket Board).
All-rounder Dawson and Baker have been handed one-year central contracts for the first time, with both players part of England men’s recent tours of Ireland and New Zealand.
Fast bowler Eddie Jack has been awarded a pace development contract, also for the first time, and is currently in Australia alongside Sonny Baker with the England Lions shadowing the first two Ashes Test matches.
The central contract system covers both red-ball and white-ball cricket, takes into account the likelihood of players featuring in England teams across formats during the next period, while also recognising performances over the past year.
This year’s central contract group reflects the depth and strength of talent we have across England Men’s cricket. We have awarded two-year deals to our multi-format players, so we can manage their workloads responsibly and give them the stability they need to perform across formats.
Rob Key, Managing Director of England Men's Cricket
We have also secured a number of white-ball players on longer agreements to help us plan effectively around the growing franchise calendar and ensure England remains their priority. This structure allows us to support our players properly while maintaining strong squads across all formats as much as possible.”

Dawson made an exceptional return to the England side this year, as he claimed figures of 4-20 against West Indies at Chester-le-Street in his first international match on home soil in eight years.
He also earned a Test re-call and picked up the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal with his seventh ball back in England whites at Old Trafford.

Baker meanwhile, having joined Hampshire in the latter half of 2024, featured for the England Lions in last winter’s tour of Australia before he gained full international recognition with ODI and IT20 debuts against South Africa and Ireland respectively.
Jack made his First-Class debut for England Lions against India A earlier this year and claimed the wickets of Test players Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Dhruv Jurel.
He featured 16 times for Hampshire over the course of this summer and claimed 26 wickets, of which 13 came in the One Day Cup as the club reached the final at Trent Bridge.
