Hampshire trio Reece Topley, Chris Wood and Ryan Stevenson all impressed as Hampshire Second XI claimed a comfortable 76-run win against Southampton Solent University on Monday.
Wood (62), struck a quick-fire half-century to help Hampshire post 285-9 from their allotted 50 overs, with Ryan Stevenson (46 from 32) also contributing with some big hitting, before Topley (4-30) tore through the University side to see them dismissed for 209 in their chasing effort.
After electing to bat first, the visitors began well with both Hampshire openers dismissed inside the opening six overs.
Calvin Dickinson (59), batting at number four, looked in good touch and he began to build nicely, moving beyond fifty before the innings' half-way stage.
Following the departure of Fraser Hay (24) with the score at 82-3, Dickinson was joined by Wood, who struck the ball beautifully on his way to a rapid half-century, his innings of 61 coming in 57 balls.
He helped guide Hampshire beyond 200, and despite falling shortly after, valuable knocks from Stevenson and Brad Taylor (34) saw Hampshire move to 285.
Topley made his presence felt early in the hosts' bowling effort, taking the wicket of both Solent University openers in his first three overs.
R Lock (45) and Kieren Geyle (59) helped steady the ship for the away side with a 54-run partnerhip, however wickets for Asher Hart (2-33), Brad Taylor (2-31) and a wicket apiece for Wood (1-38) and Stevenson (1-27) saw Hampshire seize control.
The score had reached 171-9 when Topley claimed his third and fourth wickets, clean-bowling both batsmen, and the final wicket fell with Solent University 77 runs shy of the required total.
