Diabetes Screenings

Fans of all ages and genders attending Hampshire's T20 against Somerset this Friday at the The Ageas Bowl are offered the opportunity to have a free health screening to test for diabetes, held in conjunction with University Hospital Southampton.

Attendees wanting to be screened will be offered the opportunity to give a finger prick blood sample to measure HbA1c, which is a marker of how much sugar (glucose) has been in the blood over the last two to three months. This will highlight whether or not a person is at risk of type 2 diabetes or likely to have it.

This follows a successful trial at St Mary's Stadium where more than 100 football supporters tested prior to kick off when Southampton FC took on Cardiff City in February.

Screenings will be carried out by clinicians from UHS, Solent NHS Trust and the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation taking place within the Hambledon Suite at the The Ageas Bowl from gates opening (5.30pm) on Friday.

Free Entertainment & Activities

Friday's on-field action will be complemented by a number of free to use activations:

The majority of these activations will be located on the Hilltop Terrace.

The post-match live music - courtesy of Davey Jones' Locker - will take place outside the Ticket Office, starting immediately upon the completion of play.
