Pace Bowler Brad Wheal Extends His Stay At Hampshire
Hampshire and Scotland fast bowler Brad Wheal has extended his contract with the Rose and Crown
2022 Vitality Blast champions Hampshire Hawks begin their 2023 T20 campaign at Taunton against Somerset on Wednesday, 24th May.
We are counting down the days until the Hawks’ title defence begins, and today marks 26 days until then. Our number 26, James Fuller, was one of the stars of the show as Hampshire defeated Birmingham Bears to reach Finals Day en route to lifting the trophy.
Captain James Vince won the toss and elected to bat first, the away side making a large total of 186/6 thanks to Ben McDermott scoring a brutal half-century.
The home side struggled, with Nathan Ellis and Brad Wheal doing some early damage.
Fuller came into the attack first over after the powerplay and made an immediate impact, bowling Adam Hose with a beautiful yorker.
Benjamin and Braithwaite followed in his next over, falling to catches in the deep.
Finally, Mousley could only spoon a short ball into the hands of Joe Weatherley to leave the Bears reeling at 64/7.
Birmingham finished 82 all out thanks to a convincing bowling display from the Hawks to push them to Finals Day in convincing fashion.
