James Vince made a career best T20 score with an unbeaten 129 against Somerset at Taunton in last year’s Vitality Blast
2022 Vitality Blast champions Hampshire Hawks begin their 2023 T20 campaign at Taunton against Somerset on Wednesday 24th May.
We are counting down the days until the Hawks’ title defence begins and today marks 129 days until then. Last time the Hawks visited Taunton, skipper James Vince put on a show as he made a career best T20 score of 129* to guide his team to victory.
Having won the toss, Somerset elected to field first and found the wicket of Ben McDermott with just the third ball of the innings.
Vince then took control of the innings and, with nine fours and ten maximums, set a career best T20 score of 129 not out from just 62 balls.
He was helped by Tom Prest’s 62 as their 144-run partnership guided the Hawks to a total of 208/5 from their 20 overs.
The hosts made a good start to their innings before wickets began to fall as the Hawks’ bowling attack restricted them to 194/9, securing a 14-run victory.
