Kyle Abbott

The South African had endured a slower start than in previous seasons but sprung to life on day one against the champions. He took five wickets in a 34-ball spell after the lunch break to wipe out Surrey's middle and lower order. He also took over Dimi Mascarenhas as the player with the most wickets in Utilita Bowl's history.

Toby Albert

Albert was brought into the squad as a late replacement for Ali Orr, who suffered a back spasm, and took his chance in the starting XI. His patient innings of 114 from 305 balls gave him a maiden first-class century and was vital in setting up Hampshire's total which surpassed 600 before declaration on day three.

Ben Brown

A second Hampshire century had eluded Brown since his first in 2022. He ended day two not out on 99, before coming back in the morning to record Hampshire's third century of their innings. The wicket-keeper batter would go on to record a first-class best score of 165*.

Liam Dawson

Dawson continued his magnificent start to the County Championship campaign with both bat and ball. He took out the opening three Surrey batters in the first innings to give the Hampshire bowling attack a platform and then recorded his third half-century of the campaign so far. The all-rounder's spin then helped to secure the Hampshire victory with four more in the final innings to take his total to 27 for the season.

Nick Gubbins

It has also been a sensational start for Gubbins who was back in the side following the birth of his first child during the match against Durham a fortnight ago. He marked his return to the side with his second century of the season, scoring 103 from 227 balls, and was part of a 201-run partnership with Toby Albert - a record for the second wicket against Surrey.

Felix Organ

Since returning the First XI, Organ has proven how valuable he can be, taking key wickets with his spin. In Surrey's first innings, he kickstarted Abbott's five-wicket haul with a brilliant diving catch to dismiss Dan Lawrence. He then took control in the visitors' second innings, tearing through their batting line-up to record a five-for and carry Hampshire to victory.
