25-year old Wheater hit 8 fours and 1 six during his fluent knock whilst opener Tom Casey hit an impressive 106 not out.
Hampshire’s Will Smith didn’t bat on day one of Gordon’s match against Eastern Suburbs but bowled 27 overs, 0-70.
