Skippering the side for the day, all-rounder Sean Ervine won the toss and decided to bowl first in Hampshire’s first semi-final against Nottinghamshire.
Openers Brad Taylor (0-18) and Chris Wood (2-19) kept it tight early in the Notts innings with former Hants man Michael Lumb falling to Wood for just 1.
It was opener Greg Smith, who led from the front for Notts as his unbeaten 78 from just 65 balls (7 fours, 1 six) helped the holders reach 150-4 from their 20 overs.
Leg-spinner Mason Crane (1-28) picked up one wicket for Hampshire whilst Alsop (1-29) took the important wicket of Riki Wessels (10).
In reply, Hampshire initially looked well-placed to book their spot in the final with runs from Michael Carberry (20), Tom Alsop (31) and Jimmy Adams (18) helping Hants reach 69-2 at the half-way stage.
However, Hampshire lost quick wickets during the middle overs with Steve Mullaney (2-18), Matthew Carter (2-23) and Sam Wood (2-15) impressing.
Taylor’s unbeaten 23 from 18 balls (3 fours) was a clear highlight in Hampshire’s innings, as Ervine’s side reached 141-8, handing the victory to Notts.

The promising 19-year old took the first three wickets of the match as Barbados quickly found themselves on the back-foot at 31-3.
Spinners Brad Taylor (1-27) and Joe Weatherley (1-15) each picked up a wicket, but it was Wheal who continued to impress for Hants as Barbados could only reach 109-9 from their 20 overs.
Hampshire always looked on top in the run-chase as Tom Alsop continued on his impressive form by hitting an unbeaten 74 from just 58 balls (6 fours, 1 six).
It was a match-winning performance from the 20-year old as Hants reached the target with relative ease in the 18th over.
