Women’s T20 County Championship Round One Preview

The Women’s T20 County Championship begins this Sunday 16^th April, with the six counties that make up the Southern Vipers all in action in back-to-back Twenty20 matches.

Four counties, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, and Sussex, are all in Group Five, with the remaining two counties, Dorset and Oxfordshire, playing in Groups Three and Six respectively.

Several Vipers players will be in action for their respective counties in their first competitive cricket before the women’s regional fixtures commence on Saturday 22^nd April when the Vipers host Sunrisers in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

Basingstoke and North Hants CC plays host to the first el clasicoast fixture of the season in a Southern Vipers ‘all stars’ clash, as Charlie Dean leads a Hampshire side containing fellow England star Maia Bouchier along with Vipers teammates Finty Trussler and Alice Monaghan against a Sussex side also choc-a-bloc with Vipers names.

Berkshire line up with six Vipers Academy and EPP players in as they host to Buckinghamshire at Reading CC whilst Dorset entertain Gloucestershire at Canford School, whilst Oxfordshire play Rhianna Southby’s Surrey at Didcot CC with three Vipers-affiliated players of their own.

Elsewhere, Worcestershire, captained by Vipers wicket keeper Chloe Hill, visit Danni Wyatt’s home county of Staffordshire.

The first matches kick off at 11am with the second T20s starting at 3pm.
