Scott Currie is a right-arm bowler and right-handed batter.
He was born in Poole, Dorset and is a product of Hampshire’s impressive youth system.
Currie grew up as a dual sport athlete and featured for Portsmouth FC’s Academy as a junior, before turning his sole attention to cricket.
After impressing as part of Hampshire Academy, Currie made the seamless transition to the Second XI in 2019, helping them to their first Second XI Championship since 2001.
His development continued during the winter as he received an England Under 19 call-up for their winter series, making an impact which also led to selection for the side’s 2020 World Cup campaign.
Armed with fresh experience on the international stage and with the COVID-19 pandemic impacting the season schedule in 2020, the right-armer made his full First-Class and T20 debuts, impressing during both competitions. He took figures of 3-42 against Kent on his First-Class debut.
Red ball opportunities were limited for Currie in 2021 but the 20-year-old was crucial for Hampshire Hawks in the run to Finals Day in the Vitality Blast. The tall seamer took a total of 19 wickets from nine matches, including a career best 4-24 against Somerset in July.
Currie also featured during the Royal London Cup campaign, taking a further six wickets in five appearances.
Following the 2021 season, Currie was awarded a three-year contract extension with the club, keeping him at Utilita Bowl till at least the end of the 2024 season.
He made just three appearances for the Hawks in 2022 as they won their third T20 title, but was a standout performer during the Royal London Cup, with 18 wickets at 25.11, while also contributing 122 runs with a top score of 43*, as the side made it to the semi-final stage.
In 2023, Currie again only made white-ball appearances. He took six wickets in five T20 games, while during eight appearances in the Metro Bank One Day Cup he racked up 14 scalps.
In September it was announced that he would go on loan to Leicestershire for the final three County Championship matches.
An international debut came in March of 2024, with Currie making 3 ODI appearances for Scotland against Canada and the UAE, where he took three wickets at 28.66 apiece.
Spending 2024 again on loan with Leicestershire, Currie would play consistently for the side and picked up 5-64, a maiden first-class five-for, against Glamorgan in the County Championship.
Playing in The Hundred for the first time, Currie featured in all eight of Manchester Originals’ games. He scored 26 runs and claimed seven wickets which included international stars Sam Curran (68) and Shimron Hetmyer (44).
A first half-century came with 72 from 236 balls against Gloucestershire, before finishing the season with a first career century against Northamptonshire with 120 from 192 deliveries.
Currie made 16 appearances for Leicestershire in the County Championship and Blast, scoring 354 runs and taking 49 wickets.
