Hampshire Confirm Men’s Academy Cohort For 2025

Hampshire confirm an eight-player strong men’s Academy intake for 2025, with six players retained from 2024

Hampshire Cricket have confirmed their men’s Academy intake for 2025.

A total of eight players make up this year’s cohort, with six – Sam Ashman, Zack Basey, Oli Cordery, Finn Gordon, Manny Lumsden, and Ben Mayes – being retained.

Two players, Oliver Williams and Ibrahim Zafar, join the men’s Academy for the first time.

All-rounder Dom Kelly and pace bowler Eddie Jack have since graduated from the Academy and were awarded rookie contracts, whilst Ethan Baker, Andrew MacEwan, and Louis Prichard have been released.

Mayes and graduate Jack both represented England Men’s U19s over the winter, where they won the Youth Test against South Africa.

This is an exceptional group of young lads, with a real hunger and desire to do great things in the game. They all have the drive and work ethic to perform at a high level in 2025. We have had a highly productive winter and are very much looking forward to see how this group can lead the various Hampshire teams they will represent to winning games and trophies.

Several of Hampshire men’s squad have come through the pathway and Academy, including Liam Dawson, Tom Prest, Joe Weatherley, Chris Wood, and John Turner.

The team went on a tour of Guernsey in mid-April where they played four matches and won two.

So far in the Southern Premier League, they have won two and lost one match as they look to defend their title.

They face St Cross Symondians at the Utilita Bowl Nursery Ground in their next fixture on Saturday 24 May.
