Hampshire Men hope to return to winning ways against Derbyshire at Utilita Bowl
Hampshire's Lauren Bell and Linsey Smith have been selected in England Women's 15-strong squad for the ICC Women's World Cup in India.
The tournament runs from 30 September-2 November and will be the first ICC tournament for both Head Coach Charlotte Edwards and captain Nat Sciver-Brunt.
Fast bowler Lauren Bell has made 24 WODI apperances for England, taking 38 wickets. Meanwhile, Linsey Smith has taken ten wickets in her four WODIs at an average of 16.5.
Both have enjoyed fruitful Metro Bank One Day Cup campaigns for Hampshire, with 16 wickets in 7 matches for Smith and 10 in 5 for Bell.
Being selected to play for your country in a World Cup is one of the biggest honours in sport and I’m delighted for all the players named in the squad.
Charlotte Edwards, England Women's Head Coach
Like all global tournaments, it will be a huge challenge but we want to go as far as we possibly can in India and I believe that if we play our best cricket we can compete with anyone.
India and Sri Lanka are amazing places to play cricket, and as a group we have a huge opportunity to go and do something special. ODI World Cups are the pinnacle of our sport. They only come around every four years and we’re so excited to get over there to start our preparation.
