Funding

Grass Pitch Improvement Fund

The Grass Pitch Improvement Fund (GPIF) aims to tackle inequalities by providing improved access to good quality, safe playing facilities for targeted groups. The Sport England Lottery Fund will provide funding for projects in England with projects in Wales supported by the England and Wales Cricket Trust.

Priority groups include women and girls, diverse communities, disability cricket, and low socio-economic groups. Investment focuses on:

  • Upgrading grass pitches from ‘unsuitable’ or ‘basic’ to at least ‘good’.
  • Promoting sustainable site management through irrigation and machinery improvements.
  • Installing hybrid pitches to boost playing capacity.

ECB County Grants Fund

The County Grants Fund supports ECB-affiliated cricket clubs in England and Wales to:

  • Create welcoming environments, particularly for clubs involved with All Stars, Dynamos, women’s, girls’, or disability cricket. Junior programmes should actively engage girls.
  • Enhance facilities and playing opportunities for competitive female-only and disability cricket.
  • Tacklinig climate change

Clubs can apply for grants ranging from £1,000 to £10,000.

Interest-Free Loan Scheme

The EWCT Interest-Free Loan Scheme supports ECB-affiliated clubs and eligible organisations with capital projects benefiting the wider community.

Eligible Projects:

  • Buildings: Clubhouses, changing rooms, security, and energy/water-saving systems.
  • Equipment: Machinery, covers, sightscreens, and net cages.
  • Fine Turf & Non-Turf: Drainage, irrigation, and ECB-approved non-turf pitches.
  • Land Purchase: For cricket use.

Funding:

  • Clubs with junior sections: £1,000–£50,000.
  • Clubs without junior sections: £1,000–£20,000.
  • 10% partnership funding is required.

Fundraising

Fundraising is crucial for cricket clubs to generate income and support development beyond existing funding schemes. The ECB have a detailed fundraising guide for clubs which provides advice on managing events, as well as suggestions on how to bring your club and community closer together and raise valuable funds.

  • easyfundraising.org.uk - Allows clubs to earn free donations through members' and supporters' online shopping with 3,000+ retailers. So far, more than £1,700 clubs have registered to date, raising over £290,000 in free donations.
  • PCA Masters Matches - Host a match against former England and County players to raise funds while offering a unique experience.

  • Junior Cricket Festival
