Hampshire Cricket Board Hosting Event To Increase Opportunities For Women & Girls

A Women and Girls Expo will be held at South Winchester Cricket Club on Saturday 17th February

Hampshire Cricket Board (HCB) is continuing its commitment to providing opportunities in cricket clubs across the county by hosting a Women and Girls Expo, at South Winchester Cricket Club, on Saturday 17th February.

The event will have a variety of interactive sessions covering all aspects of the sport, not just playing, with sessions on umpiring, scoring, and coaching on offer. There will also be guest speakers sharing their experiences in the sport hoping to inspire young girls to get involved, including the youngest ever international umpire.

There will be charity stands to raise awareness and funds for their work, including Cricket Without Boundaries, which offers volunteering opportunities overseas, Coppafeel, a breast cancer awareness charity and Havant & NE Hants Mind.

Stands from companies that support the female game will include FabLittleBag; Lacuna Sports; World Class Willow; Sole Foot Health; Serious Cricket and Hester Sports Injury and will offer opportunities for massages, gait analysis and bespoke bats.

There will also be the inaugural meeting of the female coach’s mentorship group, Coaching Together in Hampshire, which will look to support and help improve coaching standards in the women’s game.

The Hampshire Cricket Board also host several programmes to support girl’s cricket including the Champions young leaders programme and Chance to Shine programme.

We’ve seen the profile of women’s cricket increase significantly in recent seasons, and the work we do here at the HCB to offer a comprehensive programme of opportunities for women and girls shows we are committed to growing the women and girls’ game in Hampshire.

We are excited to host this Expo and hopefully it will help inspire a new generation of cricket fans.
