Thursday 5 December (2pm start UK/10am start local)

Hampshire Hawks hope to conclude the group stage of the inaugural Global Super League with a win against their Australian counterparts.

The Hawks can qualify providing only one of Victoria, Guyana Amazon Warriors, or Lahore Qalandars score six points.

If two of Victoria, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Lahore Qalandars win three out of their four matches, the Hawks will be knocked out of contention for the final on Friday night.

They currently sit in fourth with one win from their three matches so far.

Hampshire Hawks have taken a 14-player squad to the Global Super League.

Danny Briggs and Shan Masood bolster an otherwise fully Hampshire-contracted squad, captained by the club’s leading T20 wicket taker, Chris Wood.

Victoria

Captain: Corey Anderson

Victoria have had a somewhat surprisingly strong start in the GSL, after they beat tournament favourites Guyana Amazon Warriors in their opening match before a 10-run win against Rangpur Riders.

They are captained by New Zealand-cum-American international Corey Anderson, with other overseas in the form of England’s Joe Clarke, West Indies’ Dominic Drakes and Jahmar Hamilton, and the Netherlands’ Scott Edwards.

Victoria have also enlisted Americans Juanoy Drysdale, Karima Gore, Sanjay Krishnamurti, and Carmi le Roux, thanks to their partnership with San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket.

They ceased to exist as a T20 team in Australia with the advent of the Big Bash League (BBL) with Victoria hosting the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades, but were the most successful team in Australia’s domestic T20 competition from 2005-2011, winning the tournament four times in six editions, with one runners-up place in 2008-9.
