A Celebration of Red Ball Cricket Comes to Utilita Bowl

Red ball cricket takes centre stage at Utilita Bowl this August, as Hampshire Cricket celebrates the oldest format of the game during Hampshire's Rothesay County Championship fixture against Yorkshire.

Taking place across the opening three days of the match, from Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 August, the Celebration of Red Ball Cricket will combine top-level County Championship action with a host of activities celebrating Hampshire's history, the recreational game and the traditions that make red-ball cricket special.

And with Under-16s going free, it's a great opportunity to introduce the next generation to first-class cricket.

Some familiar Hampshire faces will return to Utilita Bowl throughout the event, joining for live Q&As, appearances and more.

Supporters will have the opportunity to hear stories from across the generations and get closer to some of the players who have helped shape Hampshire Cricket, including Nic Pothas and Shaun Udal.

Supporters can also explore Utilita Bowl's Digital Stadium Tour, discovering the stories behind seven important figures and spaces around the ground – from Shane Warne and Robin Smith to Colin Ingleby-MacKenzie and Derek Shackleton.

Ever wondered what it feels like to stand in the middle at Utilita Bowl?

During the lunch interval, attendees will be invited onto the outfield, offering supporters a unique opportunity to experience the ground from a completely different perspective.

There's plenty for younger supporters to enjoy away from the action too.

Take on the Red Ball Activity Trail, visit the Family Fun Zone and enjoy inflatables and children's games familiar from Hampshire Hawks' Vitality Blast matchdays.

Better still, Under-16s can attend for free, making it an ideal summer holiday day out for the whole family. Juniors can simply turn up at the gates for free entry.
