All-Rounder Alice Monaghan Makes Move To Surrey

24-year-old Monaghan will move to Surrey ahead of the 2025 season

Southern Vipers all-rounder will move to Surrey ahead of the 2025 season as part of their Tier 1 team.

Monaghan made her debut for the Vipers in 2020 having previously played for Yorkshire Diamonds in the Women’s Cricket Super League.

She made a career-best 44* with the bat against South East Stars at The Oval earlier in the summer, with 2024 also seeing her claim her best bowling figures when she picked up 2-18 against The Blaze in the Charlotte Edwards Cup at Utilita Bowl.

Over her career, Monaghan developed a reputation for being one of the best fielders in the game, patrolling the boundary rope and taking 18 catches in her Vipers career to date.

I would like to thank everyone at Southern Vipers and Utilita Bowl for an amazing journey over the past few years. We have achieved so much and created lasting memories and friendships along the way.

I’ve been privileged enough to have been a Viper from the start and all the incredible people I have met along the way have made it an amazing few years. The club helped me to play the game I love professionally and I wish them all the best in the future.

The all-rounder was also a regular in The Hundred, first playing for London Spirit from 2021-23 before being picked up by Manchester Originals for the 2024 season.

She picked up figures of 2-7 from ten balls against Oval Invincibles at Old Trafford and took seven catches across the four seasons.

This feels like an appropriate time for Alice to move on in her pursuit to maximise her obvious talent & high potential at domestic level. She’s been a loyal and respected professional at the Vipers and I sincerely hope, within new surroundings, she’ll progress suitably to become a first choice all-rounder within the pro’ ranks. Her warm nature and bright personality will be missed.

Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women's Cricket

For Hampshire, Monaghan debuted in 2016 against Somerset, and scored 364 runs and took 18 wickets in 55 matches, with a best of 43* with the bat and 4-22 with the ball.

Everyone at Southern Vipers, Hampshire Cricket, and Utilita Bowl, thanks Alice for her contributions and wish her the very best in her future career.
