Hampshire batter Ben Mayes and fast bowler Eddie Jack are part of England Lions’ 20-player squad to face Sri Lanka
Hampshire duo Ben Mayes and Eddie Jack have been included in England Lions’ 20-player squad to face Sri Lanka.
Batter Mayes, 18, and bowler Jack, 20, were both part of England Lions’ squad that hosted South Africa A earlier this summer, where Mayes scored his first professional century, and Jack claimed nine wickets.
The two-match T20 series will take place at Chelmsford and Beckenham on Friday 11 and Sunday 13 September prior to England Men taking on Sri Lanka in a five-match IT20 series which begins at Utilita Bowl on Tuesday 15 September.
Mayes and Jack both featured in Hampshire Hawks’ journey to a record 12th appearance at Finals Day.
18-year-old Mayes scored 155 runs, including his first T20 fifty in the Hawks’ win against local rivals Sussex Sharks, whilst Jack took one wicket.
The duo have featured heavily in Hampshire’s Rothesay County Championship campaign, with Mayes scoring 231 runs – including his first professional fifty, against Glamorgan – and Jack taking 17 wickets.
