Jack and Mayes Selected In England U19s Training Squad

Two Hampshire Cricket academy graduates have been selected for an England Young Lions training camp in South Africa

Hampshire’s Eddie Jack and Ben Mayes have both been included in England Men Under 19s squad for an upcoming training camp in South Africa.

The squad will be training in Stellenbosch, from 25 November to 16 December, ahead of the upcoming series against South Africa Under 19s, that will take place across January and February in 2025.

Pace bowler Eddie Jack made his debut for the national Under 19s side in August 2022 and has now played a number of times for Hampshire’s First XI, after making his debut in 2023 in the Metro Bank One-Day cup. He is a regular inclusion in the national youth side and earlier this year took part in the Men’s U19 2024 Cricket World Cup.

16-year-old Ben Mayes enjoyed a strong first year within the Hampshire Academy, part of the Southern Premier League trophy winning side having progressed through the county’s pathway. Mayes was recently involved in the Young Lions Tri-Series against Scotland and Ireland, in September.

It’s an exciting winter for this group of players. Firstly, a training camp to develop individual skills and be very clear on a style of play. This is then followed by a competitive series versus South Africa in both white and red ball cricket.
