England quartet Lauren Bell, Freya Kemp, Maia Bouchier, and Linsey Smith will play for Hampshire in 2025.
The four players all represented the Three Lions in 2024 and played for Southern Vipers, the regional team based at Utilita Bowl.
They were also part of England’s most recent Women’s T20 World Cup squad in the UAE.
Bell, Bouchier, and Kemp have also played for Southern Brave in The Hundred, with Bell and Bouchier debuting in 2021, and Kemp in 2022, and were part of the team that won the competition in 2023, whilst Linsey Smith has featured for Northern Superchargers.
Born in Swindon but raised in Hungerford, Bell played for Berkshire from 2015-2021 and first took to the field for Southern Vipers in 2018.
In 48 appearances for the south central region, she claimed exactly 50 wickets with a best of 4-36 coming against South East Stars in 2020.
I’m really excited to play for Hampshire next year, Utilita Bowl has been a great home since I joined the set up here back in 2018. It’s great that we have a two team, one club set up and I can’t wait to walk out at Utilita Bowl under the Rose and Crown for the first time next year.
Lauren Bell, Hampshire and England bowler
She made her England debut in a Test match against South Africa at Taunton, and claimed Lizelle Lee as her maiden international wicket.
In 2024, she picked up her first five wicket haul for England, against New Zealand at Bristol, as the Three Lions completed a clean sweep of the summer.
Originally from London, Bouchier, moved to the south coast in 2018 and debuted for Southern Vipers in 2018, and has played for Hampshire since 2019.
She received her first international honours in 2021 against New Zealand, but had to wait until the winter of 2023-24 to solidify her place in the team.
I love playing my cricket at Utilita Bowl, and I’m really pleased to continue my journey here with Hampshire. It’s a great environment to be a part of, and I look forward to continue working with Charlotte Edwards as we move into this new era of women’s cricket.
Maia Bouchier, Hampshire and England batter
An IT20 best of 91 came against New Zealand in Wellington, which also took the record for the highest score by a visiting batter in a women’s IT20 in Aotearoa.
Against the same opposition in 2024, Bouchier recorded her maiden century in professional cricket, as her 100* saw England to ODI victory at Worcester.
Freya Kemp was just 17 years and 95 days old when she first took to the field for England.
It’s a great feeling to know I’ll be playing for Hampshire next summer in this new era for women’s cricket. To work with Charlotte Edwards and the team here at Utilita Bowl is amazing, and I can’t thank them enough for helping me get to where I am from the setbacks I’ve had.
Freya Kemp, Hampshire and England all-rounder
She was England’s leading wicket taker in cricket’s first-ever venture in the Commonwealth Games in 2022, and became England women’s youngest-ever player to score an IT20 fifty when she made 51 not out against India the same year.
Smith made her England debut back in 2018, and has featured 15 times for the Three Lions.
She played nine matches across 2018-19 before making a return in 2024, where she picked up the wicket of Suzie Bates with her first ball back on the international stage, with over 1,700 days between England appearances.
I’m delighted to continue my career at Utilita Bowl and join Hampshire, I’ve loved the environment since I came back down south last season. It’s a real privilege to be coached by Charlotte Edwards and I look forward to working with her and the rest of the Hampshire team for years to come.
Linsey Smith, Hampshire and England bowler
Smith was the leading wicket taker in the 2024 edition of the women’s Hundred, with 15 wickets to her name, and is currently taking part in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) with Melbourne Renegades.
Although we are never quite sure of when our England players are available, it’s hugely reassuring that in Maia, Lauren, and Freya, we have three players of the highest quality, who are excited at the prospect of performing for Hampshire in 2025.
Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women's Cricket
With this trio, and of course Linsey, who remains a domestic contracted player of international quality, we have all the fundamental disciplines covered and alongside our very talented core group of Hampshire pros, our best XI will compete with any other county’s best XI in the country.
The best way to watch Lauren, Freya, Maia, Linsey, and Hampshire in 2025 is with a Hampshire Cricket Membership, with adult packages starting at £200 and junior and young adult deals starting at £30.

Utilita Bowl also hosts three England matches in 2025, with a men’s ODI against South Africa sold out, with only hospitality and pitch-facing hotel rooms available.
West Indies men visit in June for an IT20 whilst all four of Bell, Bouchier, Kemp, and Smith could play on their home ground as India’s women visit on 16 July.
