Fidel Edwards Signs New Red-Ball Contract

Hampshire Cricket are delighted to announce fast-bowler Fidel Edwards has signed a new contract with the Club.

The West-Indian paceman has re-signed once again for 2019, in what will be his fifth season with James Vince’s side, with the seamer available for full Specsavers County Championship campaign.

The right-arm fast-bowler impressed in his opening campaign for the Club back in 2015, claiming 45 first-class wickets in eight matches at an average of just 20.80, including a magnificent 10-wicket haul against Nottinghamshire in the last fixture of the season.

Despite suffering a season-ending injury early on in the 2016 campaign, as well as minor injuries to begin 2017, Edwards returned in emphatic style to pick up 33 wickets at an average of just 24.06 in the 2017 County Championship competition.

The 36-year-old also enjoyed an excellent four-day campaign in 2018, passing 50 first-class wickets in a season for the first time in his career as he claimed 54 scalps in 15 matches at an average of just 26.72 last summer.
