Five Hawks men’s player will feature in this year’s edition of the International League T20 (ILT20) competition in the United Arab Emirates.
James Vince was retained by Gulf Giants before the player auction that took place on Wednesday 1st October.
Liam Dawson was the first Hampshire player to be bought and will join Vince at Gulf Giants.
Scott Currie, who won the Hampshire men’s Young Player of the Year this year and earned a first England call up, was bought by US$250,000 (approx. £185,000) by Dubai Capitals – the second highest fee in the competition behind West Indies’ Andre Fletcher.
Currie, who has featured in three ODIs for Scotland, was Hampshire’s leading wicket-taker in the men’s Vitality Blast as he picked up 27 wickets and played in every game of the Hawks’ campaign as the team record Finals Day for a record 11th time.
Keeper-batter Toby Albert, who enjoyed a breakout season in the Blast as he finished the competition as the leading run scorer in the country, will link up with Currie at Dubai Capitals, which are co-owned by the GMR Group.
Left-arm pacer Chris Wood, Hampshire’s all-time leading T20 wicket-taker, was also signed by Gulf Giants to complete the famous trio alongside Vince and Dawson.
Elsewhere, Scotland’s Brandon McMullen – who featured in five Metro Bank One Day Cup games for Hampshire – was bought by Abu Dhabi Knight Riders for US$110,000.
