Match Preview: Hampshire Hawks v The Blaze & Middlesex, Vitality Blast Double Header
Hawks Men can guarantee a spot in the top two of the South Group, whilst Hawks Women require just one victory to reach Finals Day
Following a CDC Disciplinary Panel hearing at Lord’s, Hampshire have been awarded two points from the Royal London One-Day Cup match against Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium.
The match, which took place on Sunday 2 August, was abandoned due to an unfit pitch.
Glamorgan have been given a £9,000 fine and a two point deduction at the panel hearing which took place on Monday 10 August.
The decision moves Hampshire’s points tally in the table up to 8 and means a victory in the match against Lancashire at the The Ageas Bowl on Monday 17 August will secure a quarter-final place.
The ECB was instructed by the Panel to pay the remaining £4,000 to Hampshire cricket to provide compensation to the club’s supporters.
The Panel’s decision in full was:
• The match and two points were awarded to Hampshire
• Glamorgan were deducted two points from the RL ODC in 2015 and given a further points deduction suspended for the 2016 season.
• Glamorgan were fined £9,000 of which £5,000 will be suspended until the end of the 2016 season *.
• The ECB was instructed by the Panel to pay the remaining £4,000 to Hampshire cricket to provide compensation to the club’s supporters.
The Panel, which was chaired by Chris Tickle alongside Alan Wadey and Peter Jewell JP, considered reports from the umpires, the ECB Cricket Liaison Officer and the ECB Pitch Consultant and heard from Glamorgan Cricket and Hampshire Cricket.
Glamorgan Cricket pleaded guilty to a breach of ECB Directive 11 and in reaching their decision the panel noted that the club is undertaking immediate investigative and remedial work on their square at considerable expense.
