Hampshire In The Hundred 2026

A total of 21 Hawks players were included in the longlists for the Hundred auctions

A total of 21 Hampshire players, 11 women and ten men, were included in the longlists for the men’s and women’s auctions ahead of this year’s Hundred competition.

Just under 1,000 players registered to be part of the auction, with the list being trimmed to 178 women and 247 men up for grabs.

The UK’s first-ever major sporting auction, the women’s auction, took place earlier today, with the men’s tomorrow, both hosted at Picadilly Lights in London.

Eight out of the 11 Hampshire women who made the auction longlist were signed across five different teams, with three players signed or retained before the auction.

Linsey Smith was the first Hampshire player to go under the hammer, and after a bidding war between Trent Rockets, Birmingham Phoenix, and MI London, it was the west Midlands side who sealed the deal for a six-figure sum.

Ella McCaughan, the first centurion of the Women’s Vitality Blast, was next to be sold and she will return to Welsh Fire, who she represented in 2023 and 2024, for £30,000 alongside Abi Norgrove and Rhianna Southby – the latter initially going unsold.

Bex Tyson continues her rise going from net bowler in 2024 to signing a pro deal with Hampshire in 2025 and being drafted by London Spirit in the same year, to securing a £15,000 contract at Manchester Super Giants where she will join fellow Hampshire left arm spinner Liam Dawson.

After going through two rounds the auction, Hampshire skipper and two-time Hundred winner Georgia Adams was bought by Trent Rockets for £30,000.

Swing bowler Daisy Gibb will remain at Utilita Bowl as she joins Southern Brave having played two games for Oval Invincibles last year, whilst Academy and England U19 leg spin bowler Eve O’Neill has earned a £15,000 deal with Birmingham Phoenix where she will join up with Linsey Smith.

The men’s auction will take place from 10am on Thursday 12 March where ten Hampshire players will hope to be signed.

The men’s auction began with England superstar Joe Root, but it was James Vince – the leading men’s Vitality Blast and second-leading Hundred run scorer – who was the first Hampshire player to be sold, with MI London coming out as top bidders for £190,000.

His pay packet was usurped by Scott Currie, who enjoyed a prolific T20 campaign in 2025. His 27 wickets in the Vitality Blast were bettered only by Somerset’s Riley Meredith and he claimed nine wickets for Manchester Originals in last year’s Hundred.

Sonny Baker, despite early interest from Southern Brave, will remain at Manchester with the Super Giants and three-time Blast-winning bowler Chris Wood will return to Birmingham Phoenix, where he was bought for £70,000.

Youngster Ben Mayes, who was the leading run scorer at the latest U19 World Cup, was bought for £31,000 by Trent Rockets and will take part in his first Hundred competition.
