Match Preview: Hampshire Hawks v Victoria, GSL 2024
Hampshire Hawks take on Victoria in their final group match of the Global Super League
After the victory over Surrey at Guildford, Hampshire have secured their spot in the Metro Bank One Day Cup knock-out stages with the final group stage match against Kent Spitfires still to play.
Hampshire currently sit in second place, four points clear of their final group opponents in third, meaning they have already secured at least a home quarter-final.
If they are to remain in second, they will take on third place in Group B in a quarter-final at The Ageas Bowl, and there are two possible opponents – Worcestershire Rapids or Gloucestershire.
The Rapids are in second place but have played all their eight matches, while Gloucestershire are two points behind in third with a game to play. This means that if Gloucestershire beat Durham in their final match, and their net run rate remains higher, they will leapfrog who will drop down to third.
However, if Gloucestershire fail to win against Durham, they will remain in third and will visit The Ageas Bowl for the quarter-final.
A quarter-final between Hampshire and Gloucestershire is scheduled to take place on Friday 25th August, however if Hampshire take on Worcestershire Rapids the match will be played on Sunday 27th August.
It is also possible that Hampshire could finish in top spot in Group A if they are to record a big enough win over Kent Spitfires that their net run rate rises above Leicestershire Foxes’.
This would mean that Hampshire would host a home semi-final at The Ageas Bowl on Tuesday 29th August.
Ticket information for any home knock-out match will be released following Hampshire’s final group match against Kent Spitfires on Tuesday 22nd August.
