Hampshire Women host Surrey in a star-packed clash at Utilita Bowl with the Rose and Crown looking to go four games unbeaten
Hampshire batter Abi Norgrove will captain England Women’s Under 19s in the upcoming ICC Women’s U19 World Cup in Malaysia.
The 18-year-old signed for Hampshire after having played 15 matches for Southern Vipers, the regional women’s team based at Utilita Bowl.
The second edition of the Women’s U19 World Cup begins on 18th January, with England taking on Ireland (Jan 18), Pakistan (Jan 20), and the USA (Jan 22) in group B, with all their matches being played in Johor.
The 15-player squad will depart for Malaysia today (Jan 6).
I am absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead the squad in the World Cup and honoured to represent my country in such an amazing competition. We can’t wait to get going as a team.
Abi Norgrove, Hampshire batter and England U19 captain
Norgrove earned her first taste of international U19s cricket last winter, in a tri-series against Australia and host nation Sri Lanka.
She scored 98 runs and helped England win the T20 leg of the tour.
Vipers Academy and Hampshire junior player Eve O’Neill is also part of England’s World Cup squad, with fast bowlers Poppy Tulloch and Daisy Gibb non-travelling reserves.

England Women’s U19s Head Coach, Chris Guest, added: “We are delighted to have Abi leading the side into the World Cup. She has shown great leadership qualities in both the Sri Lanka tour and preparation phase for the World Cup. Abi has gained significant experience of senior domestic cricket this season which I’m sure she will draw upon in Malaysia.
