Hampshire’s Lauren Bell, Freya Kemp, and Linsey Smith have been gearing up for the T20 World Cup, with series against New Zealand and India ahead of the Three Lions’ first match against Sri Lanka on Friday 12th June at Edgbaston.
Utilita Bowl hosts six matches across four days in this year’s T20 World Cup, with England taking on Ireland on Saturday 20 July as part of a double header with New Zealand v Sri Lanka.
In their T20 matches against New Zealand and India, England won both series 2-1, with standout performances from Lauren Bell, Freya Kemp, and Linsey Smith seeing England over the line.
Spinner Smith was England’s leading wicket-taker against the White Ferns with six wickets. Her economy of 4.16 runs per over was also comfortably the lowest of any bowler in the series as her 12 overs included the only maiden of the series.

Lauren Bell also claimed three wickets in two matches against New Zealand before going on to take seven against India with best figures of 3/34 coming in the opening match.

Freya Kemp earned Player of the Match in the second match against India. She smashed four fours and two sixes on her way to 39* from just 13 deliveries to help England to 168/5 in Bristol before claiming 2/15 with the ball as she dismissed Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues.

England will be hoping to win their first Women’s T20 World Cup since the inaugural competition in 2009, when current head coach Charlotte Edwards led her team to victory at the Oval against New Zealand.
