Match Preview: Hampshire Hawks v The Blaze & Middlesex, Vitality Blast Double Header
Hawks Men can guarantee a spot in the top two of the South Group, whilst Hawks Women require just one victory to reach Finals Day
Batsman Jimmy Adams has officially stepped down as club captain of Hampshire Cricket.
Adams took over the reins from Dominic Cork at the end of the 2011 season and led Hampshire to the Clydesdale Bank 40 trophy in 2012 and LV= County Championship Division Two title in 2014 during a hugely successful spell as skipper.
It has been a great honour to captain Hampshire, but now is the right time to move on. It was certainly tough at times, but I can look back on my time as captain with fond memories and I’d like think we have moved in the right direction since I took over. Securing promotion from Championship Division Two was one of the primary goals, so I’m pleased that was achieved.
Jimmy Adams
As a group, we can take a huge amount of confidence from the way we turned things around at the end of this season and it will put us in a good place moving forward. It’s a nice feeling to know I’ll be able to relax a bit more next year and just concentrate on my batting, but we will all have a better understanding of what it takes to do well in Division One so we have a lot of belief going into next season.
The 35-year old, who was awarded with a Benefit Year this season, will continue to play for Hampshire and currently has one-year remaining on his contract at the The Ageas Bowl.
I’d like to thank Jimmy for all of his hard work and commitment over the past four seasons. He has been an outstanding Club captain and should be very proud of what he has achieved. Jimmy still has a huge amount to offer, he is a model professional and continues to have a positive influence on those around him. His advice and support will be invaluable as the Club looks ahead to its next phase.
