Match Preview: Hampshire Hawks v Middlesex, Vitality Blast

A 14-player squad has been named for the Hawks opening Vitality Blast fixture against Middlesex at The Ageas Bowl

Vitality Blast (South Group)
Friday 27th May (7pm start)
The Ageas Bowl

Hampshire Hawks will begin their 2022 Vitality Blast campaign on Friday night as they welcome Middlesex to The Ageas Bowl.

Middlesex, who won the only meeting between the two last year, will be looking to improve upon their eighth-place finish in 2021’s South Group.

Meanwhile, James Vince’s Hawks bounced back from a slow start in spectacular fashion in 2021, winning six straight games – including a memorable come-from-behind victory against Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge – on their way to Finals Day.

Unfortunately, the Hawks fell to defeat in the semi-final against Somerset but will be hoping to build on 2021’s late-season momentum this time around.

Hampshire Squad

A 14-player squad has been named for the Hawks’ Vitality Blast curtain-raiser.

Overseas Australian duo Ben McDermott and Nathan Ellis are included and look set to make their debuts for the Hawks.

Ross Whiteley could also make his Hawks entrance, while Aneurin Donald could make his first T20 appearance since August 2019.

Joe Weatherley has recovered from the fractured hand he suffered in a LV= Insurance County Championship match against Lancashire.
