Match Preview: Hampshire v Sussex Sharks - Royal London One-Day Cup

Hampshire’s final fixture of this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup group-stage sees Sussex Sharks visit the The Ageas Bowl on Wednesday

Hampshire’s final fixture of this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup group-stage sees Sussex Sharks visit the The Ageas Bowl on Wednesday.

Permutations:

Hampshire Win: If James Vince’s side claim victory against Sussex Sharks, they will need Surrey to lose to Gloucestershire, as well as a sufficient turnaround on net run-rate between all three sides.

Hampshire Lose: Hampshire will be unable to qualify for the knockout stage.

Match Abandoned: Hampshire will be unable to qualify for the knockout stage.

Hampshire Squad:

Hampshire have again named an unchanged 14-man squad from last week’s contests against Glamorgan and Surrey.

Jimmy Adams, Reece Topley and Ian Holland are all available alongside Sunday’s final XI.

The Opposition:

Sussex Sharks endured a difficult 2016 Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, picking up just one win from their eight fixtures, of which they also suffered seven defeats, to finish bottom of the South Group.

Luke Wright’s side have enjoyed a much more positive 2017 campaign with the visitors currently siting fifth in the group with a chance to qualify for the competition’s knockout stages heading into Wednesday’s final group game.

Recent Form:

Hampshire picked up an impressive nine-run win when these side’s last met in the 50-over competition in July last year.

Jimmy Adams struck 92 to help Hampshire post 268 from their allotted overs, before a positive bowling performance ensured Sussex Sharks were restricted to just 259-6 in reply.
