A 14-man squad has been named for tomorrow's away Royal London Cup fixture against Kent Spitfires at Beckenham
Hampshire suffered a setback in their push for knockout stage qualification in this year’s Royal London Cup with a tough defeat against Gloucestershire last time out and they’ll be hoping to get back to winning ways when they face Kent at Beckenham on Sunday.
With rain impacting proceedings at Bristol on Friday, Kyle Abbott’s side couldn’t quite get over the line for a second straight victory and a positive bounceback performance is required on the road against Ollie Robinson’s men.
Hampshire Squad:
An unchanged 14-man squad has been named for Sunday’s fixture.
Tom Alsop continues his outstanding form in the competition against Gloucestershire, striking a second successive half-century – his third from four matches so far – and he’ll be an important figure for Hampshire with the bat. Fellow left-hander Nick Gubbins has also enjoyed a superb campaign thus far and will also be integral at Beckenham.
While Alsop and Gubbins have starred with the bat, captain Abbott has been crucial with the ball with 20 wickets at an average of 23.55 to his name so far in the competition. That tally sees him sit fifth among top 50-over wicket-takers and he’ll be determined to contribute down the home stretch of the tournament.
James Vince, Liam Dawson, Mason Crane, Chris Wood and Brad Wheal remain absent again this week due to their respective commitments in The Hundred.
