Lancashire v Hampshire Women

Women's Metro Bank One Day Cup

Wednesday 30th April (10:30am start)

Southport

Hampshire Women are on the road to Southport as they face Lancashire in the third round of Women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup fixtures.

The Rose and Crown secured a convincing win against Surrey at Utilita Bowl, with fifties from Ella McCaughan and Maia Bouchier providing the backbone of the innings before Linsey Smith’s miserly spell of 3-28 from ten overs helped bowl the Three Feathers out fifty runs shy.

Lancashire Women meanwhile have won two from two after their eight-wicket win against The Blaze in the opening round before a seven-wicket victory against Somerset on Sunday.

Wickets were shared between pacers Tara Norris, Kate Cross, and Dani Collins and spinners Hannah Jones and Emma Lamb against the Wyverns before opening batter Eve Jones made 97 supported by 52 from Lamb.

Hampshire Squad

Hampshire have named a 13-player squad for their match against Lancashire.

Pace bowler Lauren Bell is being rested by the ECB.

Freya Kemp, Naomi Dattani, and Mary Taylor remain injured.

Lancashire

Captain: Ellie Threlkeld

Overseas Players: Katie Mack (Australia)

On paper, Lancashire are a formidable side. A top five of Eve Jones, Emma Lamb, Katie Mack, Seren Smale, and Fi Morris us up there with the best in the competition, with a strong pace attack led by Kate Cross and Tara Norris, along with new signing Grace Potts who is earmarked for international honours.

However, since the inception of the team in 2016, they have never won a trophy going back to the Women’s Cricket Super League (2016-19) and the regional era (2020-24).

England spinner Sophie Ecclestone may come back into the fold with centrally contracted players available for the first block of games before the Vitality Blast.
