The Southern Vipers kick off their campaign to win consecutive Charlotte Edwards Cups on Tuesday 23rd May at Falkland CC in Newbury where they face 2021 champions, and podium-finishers in 2022, South East Stars.
The Vipers ended their opening block of Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy matches with defeat against Central Sparks, and they currently sit mid-table on 11 points from their five matches.
South East Stars are currently in second after securing three wins and 15 points from their first five games.
The two sides met at Beckenham in April, where half-centuries from Ella McCaughan, Maia Bouchier, and Georgia Elwiss helped the orange and black side to a strong total of 287-6, before Lauren Bell produced her best RHFT figures of 4-37, along with 3-18 from Charlie Dean, to skittle a Stars side containing England’s Alice Capsey, Bryony Smith, Tash Farrant, Alice Davidson-Richards, and Freya Davies, for 129.
On Monday 15th May, the Vipers visited Beckenham again as part of a triangular T20 warm-up where they beat South East Stars by just one run as Nicole Faltum made an unbeaten 81 along with 56 from Emily Windsor, and Georgia Elwiss starred with the ball, picking up 5-14 from four overs, including one maiden.
Maia Bouchier struck 62 against Central Sparks in another day of warm-up matches on 20th May, with Nancy Harman (47) and Ella McCaughan (39) also in the runs.
