Hampshire Stalwart Kyle Abbott Signs One-Year Extension
39-year-old seam bowler Kyle Abbott has signed on for an 11th season with Hampshire
Hampshire have signed New Zealand all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn for the final four Rothesay County Championship matches.
Kuggeleijn, 34, joins after Delano Potgieter was called up to South Africa A for their series against Bangladesh A, which began on Sunday 23 August; Potgieter scored 43 runs and took three wickets in South Africa’s victory in the first match.
Hamilton-born Kuggeleijn has played 23 times for New Zealand, debuting in 2017, and featuring in three Tests, two ODIs, and 18 IT20s. He has claimed 27 wickets for his country.
In first-class cricket, he has taken 379 wickets, of which 290 have come for Northern Districts, at a career average of 29.80. He has also scored just shy of 4,000 first-class runs, with four centuries and 20 fifties.
Kuggeleijn will join the squad ahead of Hampshire’s crucial County Championship match against Warwickshire at Utilita Bowl on Wednesday 2 September.
