Global cricketing giants return to Utilita Bowl in 2025
Six Hampshire players have been retained by Southern Brave and London Spirit ahead of the 2023 edition of The Hundred.
Club Captain James Vince will remain at the helm of Southern Brave, with fellow Hampshire Hawks James Fuller and Joe Weatherley joining him.
Meanwhile in the capital, Liam Dawson, who was signed at £125,000 last year, will stay in blue at London Spirit, as will fellow spinner Mason Crane and Hampshire’s leading T20 wicket taker Chris Wood. Hampshire's 2022 overseas fast bowler Nathan Ellis will also remain in north London.
Up in the midlands, Benny Howell has also been retained by Birmingham Phoenix after taking nine wickets with a best of 3-18 in 2022.
Hampshire Women and Southern Vipers’ Maia Bouchier and Charlie Dean have also been retained by Southern Brave and London Spirit respectively.
Men’s teams could retain up to 10 players, plus an England centrally contracted player, whilst the women’s side could retain a maximum of four players.
The drafts for both competitions, with the women’s draft being a first of it’s kind in a major UK sport, will take place on Thursday 23rd March, with up to eight places being up for grabs in each men’s team, and up to five places in each women’s team.
The men’s sides will then have the opportunity to sign two Wildcard Picks later in the year, whilst the remaining seven places in the women’s squads will be filled in the open market stage where teams can directly sign players.
