It didn’t take the gloveman long to get to work, smashing a low full toss from Max Waller into the stands for a massive six.

The right hander shared a 66-run partnership with Joe Weatherley and together they took the game away from the visitors.

McManus came alive as the innings neared its conclusion, taking a De Lange full toss and whipping it away to the mid-wicket boundary for four.

Arguably his best shot of the innings came in the final over bowled by Jack Brooks, McManus backed away and dispatched a slower ball directly back over the bowler for six.

Hampshire set Somerset of target of 176 to win, before subsequently bowling them out for only 100.
